About Amanda

Amanda Pikala, MA, LMFT

I believe therapy works best when it feels safe, collaborative, and genuinely human. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without judgment, and feel truly seen, understood, and supported as you work toward meaningful change.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from University of Minnesota Duluth and my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, graduating Summa Cum Laude from both programs. During graduate school, I provided in-home therapy for children and adults, which gave me a deep appreciation for meeting people where they are- both literally and emotionally. After graduation, I helped develop crisis services through Canvas Health, supporting individuals and families during some of their most vulnerable moments.

While those experiences shaped me in important ways, I found my true passion in outpatient therapy, where I can build ongoing, meaningful relationships with clients. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I am especially drawn to helping people navigate relationship challenges, emotional disconnection, life transitions, and the complexities that come with monogamous and non-monogamous relationship structures. I strive to create a space that is affirming, respectful, and inclusive of all relationship dynamics and identities.

As a therapist, I hold myself to a high standard and am deeply committed to continued growth. I am a certified Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) therapist and supervisor, and I integrate attachment-based approaches to help clients better understand their emotions, patterns, and needs. My work is grounded in the belief that our relationships- both with ourselves and others- are central to our well-being, and that change becomes possible when we can access and share our deeper emotional experiences in new ways.

In addition to therapy, I also provide family law mediation, helping individuals and families navigate difficult conversations and decisions with clarity, structure, and care.

Clients often tell me they appreciate my balance of warmth and directness- I will meet you with compassion while also gently challenging patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply ready for something to shift, we’ll work together at a pace that feels right for you.

Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time outdoors- camping, skiing, biking, swimming, and walking. These moments help me stay grounded and connected, which I bring back into the therapy room.

If you’re considering therapy, I’d be honored to be part of your process.
